Peter Carlsson is CEO and co-founder of Northvolt, a producer of sustainable lithium-ion batteries. Northolt’s mission is to build the greenest battery in the world with a minimal carbon footprint and the highest ambitions for recycling, to enable the future of energy.
Founded in 2016, Northvolt is determined to set a new benchmark for sustainability in the battery industry. Since its founding, immense progress has been made and the company is a European leader within battery production, engaged in partnerships with some of Europe’s leading premium automotive manufacturers and industry players. Working to fulfill orders valued at USD $55 billion, Northvolt represents a world-class team of over 4,000 employees from more than 110 nations.
Northvolt is today delivering cells with the lowest environmental footprint in the world from its first gigafactory, Northvolt Ett in northern Sweden. Aiming to close the loop on battery manufacturing, Northvolt has also established battery recycling in parallel to its manufacturing process through its in-house recycling group Revolt.
Northvolt strives to push the boundaries of battery technology to deliver cutting edge products and pave a new, innovative way forward. The world is undergoing a shift towards electrification, and Northvolt is guided by the premise that batteries is key to the green transition and that we can do it with a minimal climate impact.
