WHAT WE DO
Handels Students for Sustainability (HaSS) aims to increase awareness and understanding of careers in sustainability by giving students direct insight into how sustainability is practiced in the workplace. We focus on showcasing what it actually means to work with sustainability and how such roles function across different organizations and industries.
WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN
HaSS is the social centre of Handels for sustainability interested students. Here you can explore what role you can and want to play and how sustainability can be realised in everyday life. It also gives students the possibility to influence the sustainable efforts aspired and implemented by the school, while meeting many wonderful people both at and outside of Handels. Engagement in HaSS can give you valuable contacts and experience that can be useful in pursuing your future.

Knowledge
Knowledge is the basis for commitment. Without knowledge we cannot make any difference. Therefore, Handels Students for Sustainability will act to give students the possibility to broaden their knowledge about sustainability issues. Furthermore, Handels Students for Sustainability will spread knowledge of ecological, economical and social challenges, in balance between academia and practice.
Empowerment
To create difference, it requires not only knowledge and willingness. It also requires courage, leadership and tools for change. We want to give our members that. Handels Students for Sustainability will give practical experience and support in project management and change management to develop students’ abilities to drive change in enterprises, organizations and society.
Context
Many students lack a context and a forum for discussion around important sustainability issues. Handels Students for Sustainability want to contribute to this by creating spaces for discussion, reflection, community and personal development around questions concerning ecological, social and economical sustainability.
Incentive
We want to make use of engagement and make sustainable development to a natural incentive in students’ future lives and careers. Handels Students for Sustainability will relate sustainability challenges to all students at the Gothenburg School of Business, Economics and Law ; whether they study on basic or advanced level; law, logistics, economics or environmental science.
Effect
A sustainable development requires our knowledge used in actions. Our projects will influence and contribute to a perceptible effect in society. Handels Students for Sustainability will act to create a measurable effect towards a more sustainable society.
